Casa del Jaguar — Jaen 454, Peru
Sacred plant medicine ceremonies in the Peruvian Amazon, guided by experienced shamanic practitioners.
Casa del Jaguar began its work in 2008 with deep research into the healing potential of ayahuasca, the sacred plant medicine used by Amazonian indigenous peoples for thousands of years. The center operates from the heart of the Peruvian rainforest, where it has guided over 1,000 transformative experiences since its founding. The retreat is built as a sacred sanctuary where nature and comfort meet in service of personal transformation, with the maloca—a ceremonial space constructed from natural materials—at its spiritual center.
Maestro Denis Montes, who leads the work, was born in Iquitos in 1983 and holds a degree in chemical engineering from the Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana. His first encounter with ayahuasca came at age 16 while working as an official tour guide. His shamanic training began in 2012 under the guidance of Maestro Dan Reynolds, enriched by time spent with indigenous communities throughout the Amazon. Montes advocates for ayahuasca as a sacred medicine whose benefits modern science is now validating for physical, mental, and spiritual health.
The center's approach emphasizes maximum ceremonial respect and authentic healing rather than tourism. Seven-night retreats include four ayahuasca ceremonies, seven nights in private accommodations, 21 organic meals, medical evaluations, healing massage, a flowering bath, and three yoga sessions. Ceremonies last six to eight hours and are accompanied by icaros—sacred songs—and energetic support from trained facilitators. The center reports that 98 percent of guests experience profound life changes.
Casa del Jaguar combines ancestral plant wisdom with modern scientific knowledge, integrating practices such as yoga, conscious breathing, meditation, and integrative workshops alongside the ceremonial work. Participants receive detailed preparation guidance, including dietary protocols and medication management supervised by the center's medical team. Post-retreat integration support is provided to help guests embody and sustain their experiences.
